old soren news:

well it has taken me a while to get this thing together. I have wanted to do this for a long time. It has not been since Liam's birth that I finally got to it. She is almost three now, and the pictures are of birth to date. It seems we have millions of pictures of her, so I am being selective to the pictures to go up! I hope what we do! -mark

I created the pictures page for soren, I hope every one enjoys the images! I will go back and find some of when she was younger. This is a big task , but fun to do for each member!

old liam news:

3.14.2007

We arrived at the hospital at 3:30 a.m. after no sleep for two days! Tacie was having regular contractions! Max arrived after working 12 hours in the CCU in the same hospital. We were excited and getting ready for the big event. We assumed we would have him by 9 am, boy were we wrong!!

3.14.2007

The doctor began a Potosin regimen to help move the labor along at 8 am. With Soren, they pushed the Potosin fast and we had her within a few hours. This time it was at a much slower rate and Tacie progressed well. By 12:00 p.m., Tacie began full labor. She changed positions and used a birthing ball to help draw Liam down into position as well as to alleviate pain.

Around 12:30, Tacie asked for an epidural to help with the pain. Because she was only dilated 6 cm. after 4 hours, she thought she had many more hours of labor left. Initially, they said yes to the epidural, then when she transitioned into hard labor immediately, they said no she was too far along. However, a minute later, the doctor decided to put in the epidural site in case she needed a "C" section. Halfway through the procedure with Max and Mark holding Tacie still and supporting her during contractions, Mark had to leave the room to throw up! It was the beginning of the end of Mark for a while. No, Mark was not being a "weak male", instead the flu had hit. Mark was able to come to Tacie's side to help with the final push!

The doctor came in and set up for the delivery and we all got into position for the big push. After pushing a few times the doctor was not sure if Tacie should be moved to the O.R. for a "C" section as the baby's heartbeat dropped during pushes and he didn't appear to be able to move in the right direction. The doctor called for help and decided to give Tacie an episiotomy. He cut as far as he could, to prohibit the same tearing laceration that occurred with Soren!

After some more pushing the doctor saw that Liam had the cord around his neck and was very dark blue!! The doctor unlooped the cord, then more or less reached in and pulled him out! We had a few minutes to hold and love him up! He opened his eyes right away. His color came back fast and did well with his apgar scores. His initial score was an 8, a loss of a point for color and one for muscle tone. At the next scoring he gained a point for muscle tone, but still needed to pink up some more and received a 9. After that his scores were all normal. I followed him around while the nurses completed tests and finishing touches. While we tended to Liam, the doctor tended to Tacie. He had to put in many stitches, Tacie tore again, in places people usually don't tear. However, it was still better than with Soren. Gramma Max and Mark took turns holding Liam. We were moved to a private room for the rest of the stay.

Liam was born at 2:30 PM, 8 lbs. 1oz. and 20 inches long.

3.15.2007

Mark is recovering from stomach flu, he was unable to hold Liam after the birth, He did the all the throwing up for Tacie! He went got some meds and slept at Max's house.

Mark felt better enough to go back and see Tacie and Liam. The nurses felt it would not be a good idea for Tacie and the baby because Mark and Dan were sick with the flu.

3.16.2007

Tacie and Liam came home today! It is hard to believe how fast they let Liam come home!

3.17.2007

What a night! getting Soren and Liam to settle and figure out a system, Soren was up at the slightest cry from Liam. We were up about every hour!

4.10.2007

We have had some ups and downs with the kids being sick and keeping our sanity! Liam has had a cold last week that left him congested. the breathing sounds were horrible to listen to! We took him to the doctors to see what he could do. it was very little. he is doing much better now and he has been growing! up almost two pounds and an inch in three weeks!

4.10.2007 New Pictures!

We have had some interesting times os of late. We have had Liam to the doctor's office many times in a few weeks now. His snarfing at night scares the both of us! We do everything that we have been told by the doctors and nothing has seemed to help. We took him back a few days ago, thinking maybe is some kind of allergies?? The doctor said to use a decongestive drops and do the saline drops in the nose when needed, that he still had a cold. He has been slowly getting better. He is getting stronger and bigger! He able to hold his head up for a little time, very alert.

We think he may be colic, some nights he will cry for about an hour for no reason? We check everything to make sure it is not something else, He toots a lot but that can comes with colic too. Mark was very colicy when he was a baby! Liam gets all the good stuff from his Papa!

10.12.07 new start::

Well, as you can see I am updating this page with all the family information. We had a challenging summer full of anticipation for the unknown. Mark spent much of his time interviewing and preparing for interviews. Tacie and Dan worked as much as they could on getting the house ready to go on the market. In July, Mark interviewed in Dallas and in Kansas. While in Kansas, he received a call that he might be asked to interview in Oklahoma. Because the entire family had driven with him to Kansas, it only made sense to hang out a bit to see if the Oklahoma invite would come through. So, Mark and Tacie decided to go to Texas, visit with Tacie's family, William, Ricki and kids Jamie, Catie and Lee, Tacie's Dad, and stepmom Bill and Ruth in the Garland area. Then the Thomas family ran down to check out Austin where Tacie's sister and brother in law, Mary and Shane live. This was a trip like none other, we travelled about every other day or so, long hours in the van. We are blessed with such patient and loving kids. We are foturnate.

Life has been hard for all of us. We had to put Chessie down yesterday. It has been hard to see her getting worse as the days went by. We think she had a mini stroke as I was giving her a bath a day ago. We had her about 13 years! As most of you know she was our first original baby, I got her for tacie for her graduation from Edinboro University. She had a great life went almost everywhere with us up til the last few years. We will miss her much!
